SLU-PP-332
SLU-PP-332 is a synthetic small-molecule agonist of the estrogen-related receptors (ERRα/β/γ) developed as an experimental 'exercise mimetic'; it has increased exercise capacity in mice but has no published human safety or efficacy data and is strictly a laboratory research compound.
This page is a research-orientation summary, not a dosing guide. For anything beyond general background, read the primary literature or talk to a qualified clinician — specifics like amount, frequency, or administration aren't something we publish here.
What it does & how it works
SLU-PP-332 was designed to activate the estrogen-related receptors ERRα, ERRβ, and ERRγ — orphan nuclear receptors that regulate genes controlling mitochondrial biogenesis and oxidative metabolism in muscle and other tissues. In skeletal muscle, its activation of ERRα has been shown to induce an acute aerobic-exercise-like gene expression program, with the gene Ddit4 identified as a key downstream mediator of this response. Because it acts directly on ERR transcription factors rather than through AMPK or actual physical exercise, it represents a mechanistically distinct approach from other proposed 'exercise mimetics' such as AICAR.
Typical results seen in research
In mice, SLU-PP-332 treatment substantially increased treadmill running endurance (both duration and distance) compared with untreated animals, an effect that was lost in mice with muscle-specific ERRα deletion, confirming dependence on this receptor pathway. All efficacy and mechanistic data currently come from rodent and in vitro studies — there is no published human clinical trial data on safety, tolerability, or effects on exercise capacity, weight, or metabolism in people, and newer, chemically optimized analogs remain in early preclinical development as of the most recent literature.
How it’s commonly used
SLU-PP-332 is used exclusively in laboratory research, administered to animals by injection or oral gavage in published studies; it is not an approved drug and has no established human dosing or administration protocol. It has also become a subject of doping-control analytical research, reflecting anticipated misuse in sport despite the complete absence of human safety data.
